Aldo Leopold- Emma Schlosser

I wanted to chat a little about our discussion after Professor read the story about the wolves. It was very profound and I think really worth more discussion and more people knowing about it in general. This idea that people were in "competition" with them over livestock and deer availability is just so crazy to me. Obviously we see now, that that concept totally screwed us over in terms of balance. But I wonder how this incorporates into life now. What are we doing present day and what are the long term effects for the world we live in? Of course there are many but how will that effect generations to come? Wolves were spined as these dangerous animals we needed to get rid of, when in reality they were simply being. I often think of the crazy idea of our roles being reversed. If animals were these supposed "superior being" we see as ourselves currently. What would we think then? Personally, I know I would be safe and many of us in class would be safe because we care about animal life, but what about those people who hunt for sport? The people who crush bugs with not a care in the world? Animal abusers?

Just some things to think about, I'm sure someone, somewhere has already written a book about this.
