Confronting fears to better understand fears - Evie Cantú
Throughout the semester we talked about forests quite a lot, whether that was with being n forests, how people interpret forests, anything- and I thought it is a bit funny because I am actually terrified of forests. I’ve always been scared of forests for as long as I remember, I think that I just watched too many scary videos when I was younger and as a result it just completely put me off forests- even now. I appreciate them of course, but I don’t think there has a been a moment in time where I thought to myself “I really wish I was in the middle of a forest right now”, however unfortunately in my new house I live right by a forest. I wanted to test how scared I actually am of forests still so I have been standing at the entrance of the forest from time to time, sometimes taking a few steps in, I don’t find it absolutely terrifying anymore like I did when I was younger- however I still very much feel that same nervous feeling as I did when I was younger. People always talk about how nice it is to be in forests, and while I don’t really understand that- I think it would be something to try and test myself with so maybe after a while I will be able to understand!
