Protecting the balance between humans and nature - Evie Cantú

For my Computing class we have to create a website on whatever topic interests us, I chose to make a website based off one of my favorite movies- Princess Mononoke. I feel like bringing up Princess Mononoke is a good movie to bring up for this class because it holds many important lessons or messages when it comes to the harmony between people and plants. A huge part of the movie follows the conflict between two groups, a village of humans that are being quite careless when it comes to how they interact with the world around them, and a girl who grew up in the forest surrounded by wolves. The humans had been destroying the forest to further industrialize, and to San or the girl surrounded by the wolves, this is simply unacceptable. The main character, Ashitaka, finds these people because he had been cursed by a once forest god turned into a demon after being shot by a human- where the anger and resentment towards the humans had transformed him, and he tries his best to mediate between the two groups. However as time passes he supports San and tries to also stop the woman who rules the village. The whole forest at one point ends up involved as well as the different groups of animal clans, but it all comes to a close when the woman decides to kill the main spirit of the forest- totally throwing everything out of balance and harming everyone and everything around her. The summary of the movie was pretty choppy but I think that especially at a moment in history like where we are now, there are many people destroying or degrading the world around us for human greed and prosperity, it’s a movie worth bringing up. I think that most people would enjoy the movie and if you have not seen it I totally recommend it.
