Seat at the Table - Ollie Schlosser

Jack Harries' series, Seat at the Table, shows how climate change connects every corner of our world. A fire in one region alters the air in another, or a decision in one nation reshapes lives across the globe. This video reminded me of our earlier discussions this semester on the Cosmic Web and the interconnection between everything. This is easily identified in Harries YouTube video as he travels around the world and highlights the cause & effect relationship between humans and the changing climate. He travels to Cambodia, the Isles of Scilly, and the Maldives, showing how pollution from first-world countries affects other regions of the world by way of irrational weather patterns, rising sea levels, and others. Thinking about the video through a general cosmic web lens enables an understanding that we live in a complex and interrelated environment that is far larger than the general public lets on. Most people are aware of climate change and the cause-and-effect relationship between pollution and climate change, but this video is very effective in delivering it in a way that prompts urgency and the need to be better informed.
