Sustainability Initiatives at CNU - Ollie Schlosser
This past spring semester, I took a communication and film course that centered on sustainability. Throughout the class, we examined various sustainability initiatives already in place at CNU, as well as those planned for the near future. One initiative that stood out to me was the introduction of more accessible recycling options at football games. As someone who loves attending CNU football games, I was glad to see this put into practice this season. At a tailgate before one of the last regular-season games, I was handed a map showing all the recycling stations around the stadium and parking lot. It was encouraging to see such a clear, organized effort, especially since many tailgaters typically toss their beer or soda cans directly into the trash. Having the stations highlighted so visibly made it easy for people to participate, and I noticed more people utilizing the recycling bins rather than the trash bins for their aluminum cans. Small steps like this make a noticeable difference, and it was rewarding to see the university actively promoting sustainability in a space where it’s often overlooked.
